2019 NINJA 400 SE

LIGHTWEIGHT, SHARP-LOOKING, HIGH-PERFORMANCE SPORT MODEL OFFERS EXCITEMENT AND EASE OF RIDING TO A WIDE RANGE OF CUSTOMERS
Kawasaki proudly introduces a new sport model into this highly competitive arena. Clad in sharp new Ninja styling, the new Ninja 400 delivers greater performance than its predecessor care of all new engine and chassis that are more powerful and significantly lighter. But like the Ninja 300 that preceded it, this new Ninja model possesses much more than high performance. The new model takes the winning formula that drove the success of the Ninja 250R and its successors, and amplifies it. Not only does the Ninja 400 offer stunning, high-quality looks, its stronger engine performance, light, predictable handling and relaxed, sporty riding position make it both fun and easy to ride. This duality - the ability to offer excitement and ease of riding to wide range of customers - is sure to make the new Ninja 400 a fan favourite once again.
NEW ENGINE: HIGH PERFORMANCE & HIGH CONTROLLABILITY
The Ninja 400 all-new 399 cm3 engine delivers a balance of performance and controllability. The new engine offers increased performance at all rpm compared to its predecessor, with good power feeling. Smooth, predictable response contributes to an easy-to-control engine character. Thanks to its efficient design, the compact, lightweight engine has a size on par with 250cc engines.

RELAXED RIDING POSITION
Relaxed rider triangle accommodates a wide range of rider sizes and riding situations. Compared to some other models (whose somewhat extreme riding position compromises comfort), the elevated handle position and slightly foot forward footpeg position put the rider in a position to control the bike while also offering rider comfort.

310 MM FRONT DISC
Large 310 mm semi-floating petal front disc (effective diameter: ø286 mm) is gripped by a balanced actuation dual-piston caliper. The disc - the largest in its class - is the same size as the ones used on the Ninja ZX-14R.

EXHAUST SYSTEM
Simplified exhaust system traces a straighter line, contributing to lower weight. Pipe wall thickness of 0.8 mm further contributes to weight savings. The exhaust design features 28.6 mm diameter headers with a connecting pipe enhancing the mid range torque. The stylish muffler provides a high grade appearance.

WIDER REAR TYRE
Radial tyres on the Ninja 400 offer light weight, excellent grip and contribute to both agile handling and riding comfort. Further, the 150 mm rear tyre adds to a more imposing looking rear end.

SUPERSPORT STYLE WHEELS
Stylish star-pattern 5-spoke wheels similar to those of the Ninja 650 contribute to light weight, while their optimised lateral rigidity benefits handling, adding to cornering stability. The wheels are a product of technology gained in MotoGP. They also contribute to the bike's light looks.

STYLING
Head-turning looks have always been a forte of Ninja models, regardless of displacement. The new Ninja 400 boasts futuristic new Ninja styling inspired by the mighty Ninja H2. The large-volume bodywork attracts attention, and gives the impression of a larger machine.

DUAL LED HEADLIGHTS
In addition to contributing to the Ninja 400's sharper looks, slim dual LED headlamps (each featuring low and high beams, as well as a LED position lamp) are highly visible and offer significantly increased brightness. Chin spoilers at the bottom of the front cowl were inspired by the Ninja H2 and Ninja ZX-10R.

DOWNDRAFT FUEL INJECTION
Supersport style downdraft intake provides a shorter, more direct path for intake air to enter the cylinder, improving cylinder filling efficiency and contributing to increased engine power, especially at high rpm. (The downdraft intake also contributes to chassis layout by freeing up space under the seat, facilitating a design that offers an easy reach to the ground.

SLIPPER CLUTCH
More compact Assist & Slipper Clutch (ø139 mm >> ø125 mm) with less rigid operating plates offers a 20% lighter lever pull. Complementing the extremely light feel at the lever, the new clutch has a wider engagement range, facilitating control.

41 MM FRONT SUSPENSION
A more rigid 41 mm telescopic fork (previously ø37 mm) delivers better suspension action. The front wheel feels really planted, direction changes are made easily (even when the bike is fairly upright - handy when navigating traffic jams), and overall the suspension offers the plushness of a larger model.

LIGHTWEIGHT TRELLIS FRAME
The Ninja 400 features a trellis frame similar in design to that of the Ninja H2. Kawasaki's advanced dynamic rigidity analysis was used to ensure optimum rigidity with light weight. The engine is rigid-mounted and used as a stressed member. The new frame design contributes significantly to the bike's low curb mass.

INNOVATIVE KAWASAKI TECHNOLOGY
The new radiator fan cover (patent pending) located behind the radiator directs hot air out to the sides away from the rider, reducing rider discomfort when stuck in heavy traffic. Redirecting the air also helps keep the tank, frame and other parts that contact the rider cooler, further increasing rider comfort.

HIGH GRADE COCKPIT
The Ninja 400 is equipped with the same instrument cluster as the Ninja 650, contributing to the high-grade feel of the tidy cockpit. The sophisticated instrument design features a large analogue tachometer flanked by warning lamps on one side, and a gear position indicator and multi-function LCD screen on the other.

HANDY UNDER-SEAT STORAGE
The front seat can be easily removed by pulling a cable located under the rear seat, greatly facilitating access to the battery. Under-seat storage space has two levels for a more efficient use of the space. A handy Tool Kit is located in the lower level of storage.

LED TAILLIGHT
LED Taillight design is inspired by the 2016 NINJA ZX-10R contributes to the rear's sharp impression.
